Half-day Report - Friday 17th part 1

It's 1pm and I am back in our room ... I made the very silly mistake of forgetting to put on my knee brace. I had the lighter support on but I forgot the critical part of the knee support equation. I did quite a few runs to give things a go without it but decided I really do need it. I was compensating and it wasn't ideal - a good enforced experiment though. So I left Brett playing around in the trees - there's a bit of new snow around and some powdery pockets. So, Back to base for me to sort my knee out.  Thank goodness our hotel is so accessible and that valet service so efficient!

There are four reasons for my forgetting the brace ...

Reason one: my knee has been good and hasn't been bothering me (thanks to Voltaren).
Reason two: I had put my brace in a separate place to my other under garments - big mistake.
Reason three: I fear I am getting a cold, feel a bit wooly-headed and bunged up, nothing major but not as perky as I would wish, a bit of brain fuzz going on - not, I must add due to alcohol - we had a glass of bubbles each yesterday afternoon and that was it before sleep overtook us early evening.
Reason four: after a leisurely and lovely morning in the village, Brett was hankering to get up the mountain - he was ready and I was still sorting myself. He sat on the kitchen bench saying nothing - but I knew every word - "hurry up, I'm bored now, I want to get up that mountain ...". The fact he was on the kitchen bench rather than the couch meant those words were being shouted in capital letters!!!
Haste is never good! Oh well, a wee break for me is fine - it's not perfect conditions out there and we can ski till 8.30pm if we wish.

We began the day by walking into town in light snowfall and went to the Green Farm cafe which the Kiwi chaps we met yesterday raved about. It was buzzing, warm, friendly and inviting. Great food, organic everything and the eggs Benedict were spot on.  Especially after no meal last night in favour of deep sleep.

The cafe was indeed full of hot-ness - and I don't mean the Chili sauce that is everywhere. I'm a married woman now but I am just keeping my eyes open and thinking of all you single ladies who really ought to get into skiing, even if you only go to the cafes and bars!!!!

So, as far as snow goes - there was a bit rain last night, yuk, and warm temperatures. Bugger. However light snow is falling with more in the forecast. The skiing is not like it should be but it's not too bad at all. A bit skied off in places and a top-up of powder would be perfect.

Time for a Panadol and then head back up, with knee strapped properly this time! Meeting Brett at our ramen/sake bar on the hill - best not be late, haha - but if I am he can just wait and drink sake!! We are on holiday and on mountain time and nothing need be hurried.

Off to enjoy the next stage of my day ...
