Back up the mountain with knee properly strapped and met up with Brett. He had enjoyed an amazing powder run off beaten track and was happy as a man in powder!! We had lunch at our fave mountain place - Bo-yo-so - steamed buns, edamame galore and a few sakes - it cost about $20 all up.
After that we went to top of mountain as it snowed quite hard and looked good up there. The ski down from top was divine but when we got lower down it was icy and not nice -Turoa at its worst. Never mind, top bit worth it all.
And Brett still buzzing about his earlier run, declaring he will go home happy on that run alone.
After calling it a day, we showered and changed and went into town. I picked up some meds for my lurking cold. Feel very bunged up.
A drink at Wild Bills, a cocktail at the whisky bar and then a cheap and cheerful meal at Wabi Sabi (there's that sab again!) and back to the hotel for a Baileys nightcap.
Superb!
And now sleep in prep for powder snow tomorrow - we hope!!!
There are plenty of eateries and huts around the mountain to eat, drink, take refuge and go to the loo. But our fave pit stop is definitely quaint and rustic little Bo-yo-so - it is half the price of everywhere else and the food is fab. The old boy taking orders, with his gammy arm and leg, has been there forever. He looks older than Methuselah and moves like Riffraff. We suspect this place was once the lone hut up the hill, way before the ski lifts came along. We already feel like regulars and bump into the same people, "in-the-know" and back for more each day, like us.
OBSERVATION OF THE DAY: The on-mountain loos here are pretty swish. The big huts have 5-star everything inc spacious and immaculately clean loos with heated seats, music and bidet attributes. On the other hand, the loos at Bo-yo-so are the traditional Japanese standup Long-drop style - fine if you are in your kimono but not so fab in ski gear. Still, they are clean and do the trick if we drink too much sake!!
